Water is a very important part of our digestive system. If you want to lose weight and keep those meals and snacks moving, drink up! Think about this: It takes about 1 gallon of water to process a quarter pound of hamburger!
Although a person can live without food for more than a month, a person can only live without water for approximately one week.
It takes 2 gallons to brush your teeth, 2-7 gallons to flush a toilet, and 25-50 gallons to take a shower.
The average single-family home uses 80 gallons of water per person each day in the winter and 120 gallons in the summer. Showering, bathing and using the toilet account for about 2/3 of the average family’s water usage.
The average person needs 2 quarts of water a day in addition to the water they obtain through the foods they eat. The more active the person is, the more water they need.
